CSA 2013 – Week 4

Summer is in full swing. Sunny, hot, 90*. I LOVE IT.

Any time I’ve gotten a little uncomfortably warm this summer, I ask myself, Would you rather have it be 90* with humidity and sun, -OR- 15* and snowing for the 6th day in a row?

I know, right?

Anyway, this week’s CSA gave us even more variety in terms of vegetables to work with:

2013, Week 4

2013, Week 4

  • cilantro!
  • cucumbers – which have been made into pickles, yum!
  • beets (a top-off choice)
  • 4 heads of lettuce – all sized perfectly for lunches (two were a top-off choice)
  • broccoli!
  • zucchini!
  • lacinato/dinosaur kale
  • red russian kale

I already have a plan of attack for some of the lettuces, the broccoli, and the zucchini. The kales & beets…well, I’ll think of something! Tonight is garden potluck night…where from our patch I’ll be harvesting some peas, probably a few potatoes, and maybe a pepper or two.

Don’t forget…stay cool & stay hydrated!!
