Summer is in full swing. Sunny, hot, 90*. I LOVE IT.
Any time I’ve gotten a little uncomfortably warm this summer, I ask myself, Would you rather have it be 90* with humidity and sun, -OR- 15* and snowing for the 6th day in a row?
I know, right?
Anyway, this week’s CSA gave us even more variety in terms of vegetables to work with:
- cilantro!
- cucumbers – which have been made into pickles, yum!
- beets (a top-off choice)
- 4 heads of lettuce – all sized perfectly for lunches (two were a top-off choice)
- broccoli!
- zucchini!
- lacinato/dinosaur kale
- red russian kale
I already have a plan of attack for some of the lettuces, the broccoli, and the zucchini. The kales & beets…well, I’ll think of something! Tonight is garden potluck night…where from our patch I’ll be harvesting some peas, probably a few potatoes, and maybe a pepper or two.
Don’t forget…stay cool & stay hydrated!!
I love summer! I too would rather it be super hot then -20 degrees!
I’m ready for winter.
